Regulation

Art. 1. ORGANISER

The Bilbao 10K, organised by Bilbao Atletismo Santutxu with the collaboration of the Bilbao City Council, will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2025. The race is included in the national calendar of the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation, EA, and World Athletics and will be held on a circuit approved by the R.F.E.A. and signposted every km.

The I 10km BILBAO will be held simultaneously with the Spanish 10km Road Championships, Absolute and Master. The regulations and registration will be different.

Art. 2. DATE, TIME, DISTANCE

The 1st edition will be held on Sunday, 9 March 2025, with the start and finish line in Bilbao's Arenal.

The organisers may modify the race’s timetable and/or route if obliged to do so for weather, security or any other reason of force majeure.

The official race website and social media will inform participants of any such changes as soon as possible.

Art. 4. PARTICIPATION

  • Spanish 10km Road Championships (Absolute and Masters)

RFEA regulations for federated athletes and with the minimum required.

  • The 10km BILBAO race is open to athletes of any nationality who must be 18 years old on the day of the race, both federated and popular (non-federated).

It is forbidden to participate with rollers, roller skates, wheelchairs, Nordic walking sticks, accompanying pets and in disciplines other than athletics.

The organisation recommends a medical check-up and/or stress test before the race. All participants accept the risk derived from the sporting activity. Likewise, the athlete declares to be in optimum physical condition to carry out this race and does so at his/her own risk.

Art. 5. CLOSURE OF CONTROL

The maximum time to complete the 10km race is 90 minutes (at 9 min/km) from the start of the last box.

Art. 6. REGISTRATION

6.1 Spanish 10km Road Championships (Absolute and Master)

6.2 I 10km BILBAO:

6.2.1 REGISTRATION FORMS

Registrations can only be made through the official website, www.10kbilbao.com. The platforms authorised by the organisers are published on the race's official website.

Registration for the race is personal and implies acceptance of all the articles of these regulations. You honestly undertake not to anticipate the start time and to cover the full distance before crossing the finish line.

6.2.2 PRICES AND DEADLINES

Underage races free of charge or until the race bibs are sold out. Registration open from 01/028/2025

Paralympic race free of charge or until the race bibs run out. Registration open from 01/028/2025

10k race for federated and/or popular athletes (non-federated): over 18 years old.

- Until 31/01/2025 or until bibs are sold out: 17€.

- From 1 to 23/02/2025 at 23:59 or until bibs sell out: 22 €.

The 3-€ day licence of the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation's accident insurance is included in both cases.

Athletes who have a federative athletics licence for the year 2025 with the Basque federation and/or a national licence from the RFEA, will be refunded the €3 insurance cover on the day of the race when collecting their bib number. To do so, they must show their licence and ID card.

The registration fee includes the cost of managing the payment platform.

The deadline for online registration is 23 February or until the race bibs are sold out.

There will be no registrations on the day of the race.

6.2.3 EXIT BY BOXES

When registering, the runner must accredit his/her time by filling in the box "accredit your time" to access the drawer corresponding to his/her time and thus achieve a more fluid start for everyone.

The accredited mark must have been achieved between 1 January 2023 and 23 February 2025.

The organisers may request any participant to accredit the mark at the moment of registration or until the race bib is collected. If the mark is not valid, the runner will start in the last box.

The organisers reserve the right to rearrange the sizes and layout of the start boxes and their respective markings to make them as homogeneous as possible.

Registrations made before 23 February 2025 will bear the name on the race bib that the registered person has entered in the "Alias bib" section of the registration form.

Participants must check that their registration details are correct to make changes in time. The deadline for registration changes is 23 February.

Conditions of the cancellation and change of ownership guarantee:

Once the registration has been formalised, as the runner accepts these regulations, the registration fee will not be refunded under any circumstances except for those who have taken out this guarantee. For any contingency, the organisation offers insurance or guarantee for cancellation and/or change of ownership of the race bib for €2 per registration, under the following terms:

  • In case of cancellation or changes before 23 February: 100% refund of the registration fee or changes at no extra cost.
  • Applications after 23 February will be considered final, and no refunds or exchanges can be made.

The cancellation/change of ownership guarantee can only be contracted at the time of registration. Requests must be made by email to inscripciones@deporticket.com within the deadlines indicated.

The cancellation guarantee fee is not refundable under any circumstances.

Art. 7. PICKING UP BIBS

To pick up the T-shirt, runner's bag, race bib and chip, a valid identity document (ID card, passport) must be presented.

To collect another person's registration, a photocopy of the runner's identity card must be presented.

Place: in the Secretariat tent on Paseo del Arenal in Bilbao.

Saturday 8 March, from 12:00 to 20:00h

Sunday, 9th March, from 9 am until 60 minutes before the start of the race you have registered for.

Throughout the entire race, participants must wear the race bib provided by the organisation correctly, fully visible, and without manipulating or cutting it.

They can only be collected on the days and at the times established by the organisers.

Art. 8. TIMING AND TIME LIMITS

Timing will be done through the bib-chip system that all participants will receive. A small device will be placed on the back of the bib that must not be removed at any time. Returning the bib chip once the race is over is not necessary. Race timing cannot be guaranteed if the bib is not worn on the chest.

IT IS COMPULSORY TO PLACE THE CHIP BIB VISIBLY AND WITHOUT FOLDING IT ON THE CHEST.

IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE RACE OR ACCESS THE RACE SERVICES IF THE RACE BIB IS NOT VISIBLE.

The maximum time to complete the 10km race is 90 minutes (at 9 min/km) from the start of the last box. Any participant overtaken by the sweeper car or motorbike must compulsorily abandon the race.

Art. 9. RUNNER SERVICES

I 10km BILBAO

9.1 TECHNICAL T-SHIRT.

All participants in the I 10km BILBAO race will receive a technical running t-shirt commemorating the event.

  • Runners may not ask for a different size than the one requested at the time of registration.
  • The organisation cannot guarantee that it will be able to deliver the requested size to all runners at the time of registration, as production takes place well in advance of the registration closing date.

9.5 REFRESHMENTS AT 5KM AND AT THE FINISH.

The race will have liquid refreshments at kilometre 5 and liquid and solid refreshments at the finish line.

9.6 CLOAKROOM. For the race I 10km BILBAO

For the cloakroom, you will receive the smallest bib for the event bag.

There will be a free cloakroom service located at Paseo del Arenal from 9:15 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. ONLY THE OFFICIAL BAGS OF THE EVENT WITH THE OFFICIAL NUMBERING WILL BE COLLECTED, and the bag will only be handed in at the end of the race. The Organization is not responsible for the objects handed in.

The organisation's staff may request that the bag be opened to check its contents. Refusal to do so will result in the refusal to take custody of the bag.

9.7 TOILETS

Chemical toilets will be installed in El Arenal, next to the changing room.

Art. 10. TROPHIES

Under 18s: Trophies will be awarded on the podium to the first three male and female athletes in all categories except the Txupete.

10Km. race. Absolute (2006 and earlier) Trophies will be awarded on the podium to the first three men and women in the overall classification, to the first Basque athlete and to the overall male and female Master. From the day of their 35th birthday (inc.)

It is compulsory to collect the trophy when called. The organisation will not be held responsible if the trophy is not collected and will be considered as not collected.

Art. 11. FINANCIAL PRIZES in the 10km race

Prizes will be awarded to the 5 first-classed runners in the Absolute category of the overall combined Spanish Championship and the I 10km BILBAO. The corresponding deduction will be applied to all the prizes.

Art. 12. CLASSIFICATIONS

The unofficial general classification will be published on the day of the race on the website www.10kbilbao.com/clasificaciones. The definitive classification will be published once it has been confirmed by the Judges and Timekeepers Committee of the Biscayan Athletics Federation (FAV) and will be the exclusive competence of the FAV. The times will be taken using a computer system. There will be a time control at the start and finish line.

The chip system will be used for time control, and it will be incorporated into the race bib. Each athlete will have his official time and his compensated time.

Art. 13. DISQUALIFICATIONS and/or CLAIMS.

THE FOLLOWING SHALL BE GROUNDS FOR DISQUALIFICATION:

  • Providing false information when registering (age, residence, etc.).
  • Not doing the whole route.
  • Not wearing the bib clearly visible or altering or concealing the advertising on the bib.
  • Running with a bib allocated to another runner.
  • Failure to heed the instructions of the judges, organisers and/or municipal police. All runners are obliged to be attentive to the instructions given to them by the organisers and/or municipal police.
  • Running with two headphones. If you want to run with music, only one headphone can be used.

COMPLAINTS

The race will be controlled by a team of judges from the Biscayan Athletics Federation (FAV). Complaints must be made to the race's Referee Judge, who will resolve any technical issues by interpreting the rules of the race. In all matters not covered by these regulations, the rules of the W.A. will be followed.

Art. 14. MEDICAL SERVICES and INSURANCE

The organisation will provide a medical service from half an hour before the start until half an hour after the finish.

The event is covered by civil liability insurance.

The competition medical service and/or the organising company are entitled to remove from the race:

  • Any runner who is in poor physical condition.
  • Any runner not wearing the bib number of his or her starting box.
  • Any the runner who does not complete the entire route
  • Any runner who displays unsporting behaviour

The organisation will take out a sports accident insurance policy for all participants in the race in accordance with RD 849/1993.

The organisers will not be liable for any damage that may be caused by participants during the race, or that may be caused to third parties.

Art. 15. AUTHORISED VEHICLES

The only vehicles authorised to follow the race are those designated by the organisers. It is strictly forbidden to follow runners in a car, motorbike, bicycle or any other means of transport due to the danger it could pose to the runners.

Art. 16. LIABILITY

Participation is at the participant's own risk and responsibility.

At the time of registration, the participant declares that he/she is physically fit for the event.

Art. 17. ACCEPTANCE OF REGULATIONS

All participants, by registering, accept these regulations. In case of doubt or any situation that is not reflected in these regulations, the Organising Committee will make the final decision.

Registration for the test implies that you have read, understood and acquired the following:

I certify that I am in good physical condition and exempt the organising committee from any liability arising from my participation in the event, such as loss of personal belongings due to theft or other circumstances.

I waive any legal action that may arise from my participation in the event. I authorise the event organisers to record all or part of my participation in the event by means of photographs, films, television, radio, video, and any other means known or to be known, and I assign all rights relating to its commercial and advertising exploitation that they consider appropriate without the right on my part to receive financial compensation.

Anything unforeseen event will be studied following the World Athletics regulations.

Art. 18. DATA PROTECTION

By registering for the Bilbao 10k race, participants give their consent to the legal basis for the processing of data based on the General Data Protection Regulation RGPD law that affects the entire European Union, approved in 2016 and in force since May 25, 2018, so that Bilbao Atletismo Santutxu, by itself or through third parties, automatically and exclusively for sporting, promotional or commercial purposes, process their personal data. Likewise, and in accordance with the sporting, promotional, distribution and exploitation interests of the event for the whole world (reproduction of photographs of the event, publication of qualifying lists, etc...) using any device (Internet, advertising, etc...) and without any time limit, those registered expressly grant the organisation the right to reproduce the name and surname, the place obtained in the general classification and the participant's classification, the category, the sporting mark made and their image. In accordance with the new General Data Protection Regulation RGPD 2018, the participant has the right to be forgotten; he/she can exercise the right to request the deletion of his/her data if they are no longer necessary or if he/she has withdrawn his/her consent in the appropriate manner.
